California Environmental Protection Agency

The California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) was created in 1991 by Governor’s Executive Order. The six Boards, Departments and Office were placed within the Cal/EPA “umbrella” to create a cabinet level voice for the protection of human health and the environment and to assure the coordinated deployment of State resources. Our mission is to restore, protect and enhance the environment, to ensure public health, environmental quality and economic vitality.

Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) & Enviromental Security Technology Certification program (ESTCP)

SERDP and ESTCP are the Department of Defense’s environmental research programs, harnessing the latest science and technology to improve DoD’s environmental performance, reduce costs, and enhance and sustain mission capabilities. The Programs respond to environmental technology requirements that are common to all of the military Services, complementing the Services’ research programs. SERDP and ESTCP promote partnerships and collaboration among academia, industry, the military Services, and other Federal agencies.

Contaminated Site Clean-Up Information (CLU-IN)

The Hazardous Waste Clean-up Information (CLU-IN) provides information about innovative treatment technology to the hazardous waste remediation community. It describes programs, organizations, publications, and other tools for federal and state personnel, consulting engineers, technology developers and vendors, remediation contractors, researchers, community groups, and individual citizens. The site was developed by the U.S. EPA but is intended as a forum for all waste remediation stakeholders.
